Vietnam Urges Further Promotion of Cambodia-Vietnam Parliamentary Cooperation

PHNOM PENH: Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Party Secretary of Hanoi, Dinh Tien Dung, requested National Assembly President, Heng Samrin, to further promote cooperation between the National Assemblies of Cambodia and Vietnam, along with the exchange of experiences on law-making and bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the international arena.

The Hanoi Party Secretary made this request during a meeting with National Assembly President Heng Samrin at the National Assembly on Wednesday morning (27 April 2022).

Party Secretary, Dinh Tien Dung, gave his congratulations for to the National Assembly President over the development of Phnom Penh and Cambodia. He also praised and congratulated the Royal Government of Cambodia for its great success in the fight against Covid-19, which has allowed for the re-opening of the country and the rebuilding of the local socio-economic situation and economic growth.

He further wished Cambodia success in organizing the upcoming Commune / District Council Election in June 2022, as well as for the National Assembly Election and the 2022 ASEAN Chairmanship. He respectfully requested National Assembly President Heng Samrin to promote further cooperation between the National Assemblies of both continues.

The Hanoi Party Secretary Dung also informed the National Assembly President about the results from the cooperation between Phnom Penh and Hanoi in the past, as well as the future plans that exist to promote the interests of both countries and peoples.

National Assembly President, Heng Samrin, in turn, said that the cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam at all levels of the country shows the level of the deep brotherhood, good neighborliness, friendship, tradition, comprehensive and long-term cooperation between the two Southeast Asian nations. This also includes a history of struggle and mourning together. He added that the bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries have been good thus far, integrated closely and deeply within the framework of the Party, state and people, based on the spirit of brotherhood, mutual trust and mutual benefit.

The National Assembly President praised the relationship and cooperation between the two countries, especially between Phnom Penh Capital Hall and the capital hall of Hanoi.

He also expressed his support for the the work programs and exchange of visits, as well as for sharing experiences with each other to promote mutual progress and development between Phnom Penh and Hanoi, and the generally growth of both nations.
